Long after the recognised awards season has come to an end, the acclaimed drama 45 Years has picked up another prize. It’s been named the best film at the South Bank Sky Arts awards, that recognise British achievement in a variety of cultural fields.
The Comedy Award went to the second series of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Channel 4 sitcom Catastrophe.
BBC1’s Doctor Foster beat Humans and Wolf Hall to be named the best TV Drama. The theatre award went to Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen.
The controversial street artist Banksy’s Dismaland missed out on the visual art award to Lynette Yiadom-Boakye’s Verses After Dark exhibition at Hyde Park’s Serpentine.
The Mercury Prize winner Benjamin Clementine won the Pop award and the grime artist Stormzy received the Breakthrough award.
The comedian, political campaigner and marathon runner Eddie Izzard was honoured with an award for his outstanding contribution to British arts over the years, presented by fellow comic Sir Lenny Henry, at the ceremony, hosted by Lord Bragg, at the Savoy Hotel in London.
