As the 2025 Awards Season nears its conclusion, the Screen Actors Guild has taken centre stage for Hollywood’s actors to honour their peers.

Most of the prizes went along the lines of the other ceremonies held earlier in the year, confirming the Oscar hopes of the front-runners.
Demi Moore – whose performance in The Substance earned her her first Golden Globe last month – was named the best leading actress. The only major awards to overlook her this season have been the BAFTAs.
Keiran Culkin was again honoured for his supporting turn in A Real Pain, while Zoë Saldaña continued her winning run in the supporting category for Emilia Pérez.

The only major surprise of the night saw Timothée Chalamet pip The Brutalist‘s Adrien Brody to the best leading actor trophy for his portrayal of the rock and folk legend Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
Throughout the awards season, experts use each successive ceremony to try to predict who will win the big prize – the Oscar – but while some awards are picked by journalists or fans, the Screen Actors Guild Awards see actors honouring themselves – and with actors forming the largest group within the Oscar-voting Academy, in the acting categories, at least, SAG has a good record of predicting the Oscar-winners.
The best ensemble cast award – SAG’s equivalent to Oscar’s Best Picture prize – went to Conclave, but not receiving any individual awards could be seen as weakening its charge at next week’s Academy Awards.
The Screen Actors Guild also honours members who perform stunts, with this year’s award going – appropriately – to The Fall Guy.
SAG – like the Golden Globes – also honours TV achievements at the same ceremony, with Shogun and Only Murders in the Building among the multiple winners.
